Jen & Roberto (+2)

Roberto & Jen are responsible for many, many good memories from my twenties.  If I hadn’t been friends with them I never would have spent so many great weekends camping, rock climbing, hiking, skiing…  or sipping Strongbows in Whyte Ave pubs.  I wouldn’t have owned nearly as much fleece, either.   And I’m sure my own sense of humour was heavily influenced by Roberto’s dry sarcastic wit.  He made me laugh so many times I still start to laugh just looking at him (I mean that in a good way).   And darn them both for looking exactly like they did 10 years ago!  How is that even possible?   Okay, maybe a few very fine laugh lines, but who they are hasn’t changed.   I haven’t spent much time at all with them since they’ve been parents (we haven’t lived in the same city since ’97).  I will admit I got a little verklempt watching them with their kids.  It’s just neat to see old friends as parents.  Especially Roberto, who I don’t remember having much of a soft side in the ’90s ;)  But seeing him smiling at his daughter seriously melted my heart.  Darn it!  Getting sappy.  Anyways,  their kids are awesome, and fun, and so lucky to be living now on Vancouver Island.

Thanks Jen for the lovely dinner last weekend.  It was wonderful seeing you guys again and catching up.  And thank you for asking me to photograph your family.  Cordova Bay is beautiful – congrats on the new diggs!

Jen – I have a great idea for that wall display!  I’ll be in touch as soon as all your images are ready.
